Georgetown’s Garey Park opens its gates on June 9, 2018, but admission will not be free. Garey Park entrance fees will be charged for admission for both Georgetown residents and nonresidents. It’s the first park in the in Georgetown to do so.
The massive 525 acre park was donated to the City of Georgetown by Jack and Camille Garey. Although the donation included a large piece of Williamson County as well as $5 million for future development, it was stipulated by the Gareys that their money could not be used for park operation and maintenance.
These fees only cover a portion of the City’s annual operating costs and will allow the City to run this regional park in a manner in which Georgetown and the Garey family can be proud.
